Selling and Buying Used Textbooks
A great resource for all students is http://tusbe.com/! You can sell and buy used textbooks from students all over Toronto. There is also a discount textbook store at 229 College Street, right across the UofT Bookstore.
From Silvia Zago,
welcome to NMC and, for those of you who are not new, welcome back to a new year!
As the new academic year approaches fast, so do also all our committments in academia. So, if you need a break from studying and being stressed out about deadlines and papers (of course you will need it!), come and join our volleyball team to let off some steam and have lots of fun with your fellow NMC grad students!
We play in the Recreational Division of the league, which means you can join us even if you have never played volleyball before. It is a co-ed league, so everyone is welcome.
From October on (and until the end of March), the team will be engaged in friendly games with the other teams in the Recreational Division, for usually one time per week, in an hour game. The games are usually scheduled to take place between 5 and 10pm (although the 8-9pm or the 9-10pm slots are very rarely scheduled for games). As for the days, we usually played on Tuesdays in the past years.
The deadline for signing a team up for volleyball at the GSU is usually around mid-September, but I can’t say for sure when it is now, since the UTGSU webpage (https://www.utgsu.ca/athletics/gsu-volleyball-league/) hasn’t been updated yet. So the earlier you sign up, the better it is!
If you are interested in joining our team, please write me an email (to firstname.lastname@example.org) with your name and last name, student number, and also indicating a day when you could NOT play because you have other commitments. All of this will be required when signing up in the division.
There will also be a sing-up sheet at the Graduate Students Orientation day, Thursday September 10, where one of the members of our team will briefly speak about volleyball.
If you have any questions, or for further information, please get in touch with me (details below).
I hope many of you will be interested, and I’m looking forward to playing together and have lots of fun!
See you on the court, I hope!
Your Graduate Students’ Union’s annual UTGSU BBQ event will take place on Tuesday, September 8, from 4-9 pm at the UTGSU Building (16 Bancroft Ave).
There will be FREE food (corn roast & BBQ), an info fair and live music. There will be vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, kosher and halal options:
There will also be a FREE Bikechain Safety Check at the BBQ, free bicycle safety checks from 4:00-7:00pm. Come by with your bike, and Bikechain staff and volunteers can check it over, oil it, and do some minor adjustments.
